"The columns converge again at the Eldridge Hotel which is looted and eventually destroyed. Stores are emptied of food, liquor and anything of value. Over 150 male residents of Lawrence are killed and much of the town, including the residential area is burned.  "

"The first pilot managed to get the vehicle going but soon crashed it into a store building and was removed from the project. A substitute pilot extracted the vehicle from the damaged building and got it going down the road . . "
