WindingRiver.com was established as a web site in 1997 to provide a conduit for groups and organizations to promote the rich history and natural resources of the area.  Today, it is the largest web site specializing in the history of 24 Kansas and Missouri counties along a corridor from south of Kansas City to north of St. Joseph.

 The web site is full of interesting information on the history and natural resources of that area.  With informative articles on subjects ranging from 10,000-year-old woolly mammoth archeological finds, Civil War skirmishes, Missouri River steamboating and much more, the web site has become popular with thousands of unique visitors each month.
