The Border Wars 1854 - 1861

As America observes the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War in WindingRiver.com has archived a series of articles written by local historian, Harold Dellinger. These articles give a brief history of the Border War era and provide a background for the four years of bloody war that would engulf northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas.

The Battle Hymn image , is taken from a poster created to advertise a play of that same name about John Brown of Harpers Ferry. The play was written by Michael Blankfort and Michael Gold At the Experimental Theatre. The poster was created as part of the Federal Art Project, between 1936 and 1941. Additional Information
