The Excelsior Springs Museum & Archives is hosting "Return to Lake Maurer" day in May and everyone is invited to "come home" for the event. Since the 1960s when the lake was closed to the public, many have longed to swim in the famous pool, stroll the grounds and soak up Lake Maurer's atmosphere.

Dr. Jimmy Albright will be the host for the 13 day trip, which will include all of mainland Greece from Peloponnese in the south to ancient sites like Corinth, Olympia, Epidaurus, and Mycenae.  The trip will explore the environs of Athens with its Acropolis, Parthenon, and ancient ruins, to Delphi, Meteora, Mt. Olympus, Thessaloniki, and other famous sites revealed by excavation.

To kick off its salute to the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War, the Lone Jack Historical Society unveiled a new exhibit at its March meeting. The display honors the soldiers who fought in the battle with their images to personalize their memory.

Once again, volunteers will descend onto the Lone Jack battlefield. This time instead of rifles and shotguns, they will muster leaf rakes, mops and trash bags to help clean up and restore our battlefield, museum and cemetery.
