You don't have to go to Washington, D. C. to visit the National Archives! The National Archives at Kansas City will host area Girl Scout troops on Saturday, March 3, 2012.
The National Archives has thousands of important historical documents, photos, maps, charts, and even films dating from the 1820s to the 1990s from federal agencies and courts in Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North and South Dakota. The education staff at the National Archives will help troops understand why local history is important and how students can use archival records for family history research or school projects.
Tours will include a special behind the scenes look at some of our documents and an activity. This tour will coordinate with the requirements for several Junior Girl Scout badges. Advance registration is required; sign up early!
